Rihanna launched her beauty line, Fenty beauty, in the UK on September 08th, 2017 and all we have to say is this is a wake up call to the entire beauty industry.
After dropping an announcement a month ago on social media, Fenty beauty is finally available for purchase. The beauty line carries 40 different shades of foundation; which means there’s a shade for everyone.
There’s also primer (which works perfectly for every skin tone), lip gloss (the Universal Lip Luminizer), highlighter, concealer and brushes galore, all well-designed and with inventive, millennial-luring names like Killawatt and Pro Filt’r.
There’s a huge gap in the beauty industry. Women of colour are excluded. So many women of colour go a long way to get the right foundation shade for themselves; something which Rihanna doesn’t agree with
“I wanted things that I love. Then I also wanted things that girls of all skin tones could fall in love with,” Rihanna said at the launch.
“That was really important for me. In every product I was like: ‘There needs to be something for a dark-skinned girl; there needs to be something for a really pale girl; there needs to be something in-between.”
It’s quite a lot of work to come up with 40 shades of foundation, and it could easily have some quality issues but as it stands everyone has something good to say about the fenty beauty line most especially the highlighters.
