Cameroonian South African based rapper Free Boy Makizar says no to the killings in Anglophone Cameroon.
Makizar performed at Chronic Night Club Braamfontein Johannesburg on May 20th. Where he denounced the ongoing ”genocide” in West Cameroon.
Makizar AKA the PidginTrapGod (PTG) is a Cameroonian born rapper raised in South Africa. The PidginTrapGod is taking the African hip-hop scene by storm by introducing #Pidgin into his infectious hip-hop beats.
A peaceful protest orchestrated by Anglophone teachers and Common Law Lawyers in November 2016 has now morphed into an armed struggle. It has to do with the perceived marginalisation of the English speaking part of the country, formerly British Southern Cameroon.
” Villages have burnt by the military, with villagers fleeing into bushes and neighbouring communities, while a growing number has taken refuge in neighbouring Nigeria, facing dire living conditions.”
The killings have gone out of hands. The Biya regime needs to dialogue with the people of former British Southern Cameroons.
In this regard, the Cameroonian south African base rapper is worried about the future of his people. Couple with all the injustice and killings he urges all parties to settle for genuine dialogue.
Makizar delivers a unique African slang and flexes over Trap, Hip Hop and Afro-beats to bring listeners a new genre of Afro hip-hop with hardcore sounds and ‘Pidgin’ raps. You can feel the vibes in his hits songs in the likes of Hamma Hamma featuring Emtee, Alempok and many others.
